PINE PRAIRIE -- After early-season struggles with COVID-19, the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers appear to be peaking just in time. The No.11-seeded Lady Panthers opened the Class 3A playoffs in style, shutting out the No. 22 Erath Lady Cats 10-0.

Ville Platte, Sacred Heart bow out in first round

Ville Platte high schools were in playoff action on Monday and Tuesday. However, neither school got the result it wanted. No. 7 Central Catholic, 4 vs. No. 10 Sacred Heart, 2 The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans took a two-run lead in the top of the third Tuesday afternoon.

Baseball action continues

The baseball edition of the Tee Cotton Bowl rivalry between Sacred Heart and Ville Platte took place last Saturday, with the Trojans handily defeating Ville Platte 12-0 in five innings. Sacred Heart rode five-run showings in the second and third innings to spring it to victory.

EUNICE – LSU Eunice saw its season come to an end on Tuesday as Holmes CC took down the Bengals 79-64 in the Region 23 Quarterfinals at the HPRE Center. The Bengals finish the season 12-1 after a second consecutive LCCAC championship.

Momentum-swinging wins are always huge for programs. The Pine Prairie Lady Panthers got one of those earlier this week, upsetting 5-3A rival Iota 7-5 in softball action.
