The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans took a two-run lead in the top of the third Tuesday afternoon. However, free baserunners ultimately got the best of them in their Division IV first-round loss.
Jenna McFarlain singled in two runners in the top of the third to give the Lady Trojans an early 2-0 lead.
On most days, a two-run lead is a good place to work form. However, Sacred Heart starting pitcher Halle Lafleur wasn’t at her best. While she struck out seven Central Catholic hitters and only gave up two hits, she also allowed eight walks in the loss.
Lafleur walked in both runs in the third inning, and a pair of walks in the fifth inning ultimately set up an RBI-double and a sacrifice ground out RBI to supply Central Catholic the winning margin.

The Lady Bulldogs season ended on a sour note, giving up seven second-inning runs en route to a first-round playoff exit Monday afternoon
A single to lead off the game by Hanna Monier gave Ville Platte an early opportunity, but it was squandered with three-consecutive outs following the hit.
The Lady Bulldogs struggled at the plate, scratching out only three hits in the four innings that were played.
Monier was the starter in the circle for Ville Platte, but struggled mightily against one of Class 3A’s presumptive favorites based on seeding.
A bright spot for the Lady Bulldogs was their solid fielding. They played error-free softball in the game.
Catcher Madison Monier and outfielder Lilly Fontenot collected the other hits for Ville Platte.
