Parish jail is cited for health issues

By: TONY MARKS Editor After a recent inspection, the kitchen of the Evangeline Parish Jail, located inside the parish courthouse, received a notice of non-critical violations from the state’s Office of Public Health.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Arrested were the following persons: •Anthony Harvey Rougeau, 56, was arrested July 8, 2026, for molestation of a juvenile and child grooming.

Press Release The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office previously announced the arrest of Anthony Rougeau on June 11, 2026, at the time of his arrest, the investigation remained active and additional charges were anticipated as new information was developing.
