The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Arrested were the following persons: •Brad Cart, 51, Eunice, was arrested May 11, 2026, for domestic abuse battery.

VPHS student is killed in shooting

By: TONY MARKS Editor VILLE PLATTE - The life of a Ville Platte High School student was tragically cut short after he was shot and killed on the afternoon of Monday, May 4. According to a press release from the Ville Platte Police Department, the shooting occurred shortly before 1 p.m.

Juvenile Murdered/Suspect Arrested

Chief A. Perry Thomas reports there was a shooting on Monday, May, 4, 2026, shortly before 1:00 p.m. near the intersection of Martin Luther King Street and Calcasieu Street in Ville Platte. Pronounced dead at the scene was a 15-year-old male juvenile. The gun used was an AR pistol.
