Maia Brooke Faircloth, the daughter of Travis and Makaila Faircloth of Carencro, celebrated her fifth birthday with a party at her Mammie and Paw Paw’s house on Saturday, May 16, 2025. Her birthday was May 11. The party theme was “K Pop Demon Hunters.

Heritage Manor celebrates state recognition

On Thursday, May 28, the staff of Heritage Manor gathered to celebrate Administrator Trey Prudhomme, who was named Administrator of the Year and nurse Carla Ardoin, who was recognized as Nurse of the Year by the Louisiana Nursing Home Association (LNHA).

Parish observes Memorial Day

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 632 again this year hosted the parish’s Memorial Day observance, at the Evangeline Parish Courthouse. Many local veterans, members of the community, and public officials were present for the event.

High school physicals are held

Healthworks Rehab, on Thursday, May 21, held preseason athletic physicals for high school athletes from Ville Platte, Mamou, Pine Prairie, and Sacred Heart. The physicals included screenings from optometrists, physical therapists, dentists, and physicians before final clearance.

Monday, May 11, was Membership Monday at Farm Bureau in Ville Platte. Membership in Louisiana Farm Bureau offers a multitude of benefits and adds new benefits all the time.

Boggy Bayou Festival opens

Senior royalty is named

Prairie Manor Nursing Home announced its 2026 Senior Boggy Bayou Festival King and Queen. The new royalty of Senior King Darnell Fontenot (left) and Senior Queen Drucella Rozas (right) was crowned on February 24 and will preside over the festival which begins on Thursday, May 7.

Awareness ride is held

CASA of St. Landry-Evangeline Inc. and St. Landry-Evangeline Sexual Assault Center (SLESAC) held its 13th Annual Crime and Abuse Prevention Awareness Ride at the Evangeline Parish Courthouse on Saturday, April 25, in partnership with the City of Ville Platte.

Trojan golfers qualify for regionals

After dismantling the program in 2020 because of COVID-19, Sacred Heart brought back its varsity golf program in 2024. This year, the team competed in several tournaments, including the District tournament on Monday, April 20, at Atchafalaya Golf Course in Patterson.

Catholic Daughters honored as Volunteers of the Year

The annual Heritage Manor Volunteer Supper was held in the facility’s dining room on Wednesday, April 22. Activity Director Patricia Duplechin said this is the third annual Hillery Hill Volunteer Award and normally it is presented to an individual.
