The Louisiana High School Athletic Association responded to an email from the Ville Platte Gazette and issued the following statement regarding last night’s fatal shooting outside Ville Platte High.
We are aware of the incident and are deeply saddened by what occurred. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected, especially the students, families, school communities, and everyone who was present last night.
At a time like this, the safety and well-being of our school communities are what matter most. The game and its outcome are secondary to the people and families impacted by this incident.
We are continuing to gather information and will communicate any updates regarding the status of the game as appropriate.
