CROWLEY -- Wins are of the utmost importance any time of the year, but especially when the season is so close to closing out.

Mamou thrashes Northwest in doubleheader action Tuesday

MAMOU -- The Mamou Demons continued their quest for a spot in the playoffs, as they were able to ten-run rule the Northwest Raiders 15-1 and 12-1 in a doubleheader here Monday afternoon. With the two wins, the Demons raised their overall record to 13-18 and their district record to 5-9.

On Thursday afternoon the LHSAA released the 2018 playoff brackets and three Evangeline Parish squads will get their chance to race for the state title beginning tomorrow. In Division IV, the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans earned the No. 8 seed after posting an overall record of 12-12.

Sacred Heart routes Slaughter Charter; earn district victory

SLAUGHTER -- A total of twenty players got an opportunity to put a bat in their hands as the Sacred Heart Trojans routed the Slaughter Charter Knights 22-2 here Thursday afternoon to pick up their second district win of the season.

Despite the fact that the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans and the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers are on their way to the LHSAA playoffs this coming week, both squads were hoping to finish the season on a winning note.

LOREAUVILLE -- The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans were looking to pick up some valuable power points before the season closed out on Wednesday as they took on a pair of Lady Tigers, facing off against Breaux Bridge at home on Monday and Loreauville on the road Tuesday.

Ville Platte Bulldogs valiant effort comes up just short

LAKE ARTHUR -- In probably their best game they have played all season long, the Ville Platte Bulldogs put a scare into the No. 8 ranked Lake Arthur Tigers in a valiant 8-4 loss on the road Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, Ville Platte dropped to 4-14 on the year and 0-7 in district play.
