LOREAUVILLE -- The Sacred Heart Lady Trojans were looking to pick up some valuable power points before the season closed out on Wednesday as they took on a pair of Lady Tigers, facing off against Breaux Bridge at home on Monday and Loreauville on the road Tuesday.
Mission accomplished for the Lady Trojans, as they rolled Breaux Bridge 16-1 and downed Loreauville 4-1 to pick up two crucial non-district wins.
With the two wins, Sacred Heart improved to 12-11 on the season. The Lady Trojans were scheduled to play Rapides Wednesday afternoon at home to close out the regular season.
Against Breaux Bridge on Monday, Lady Trojan pitchers Aubrey Foret and Camille Fontenot combined for a one-hitter, as the two hurlers struck out four and walked three.
Sacred Heart jumped all over the Lady Tigers picking up three runs inthe bottom of the first inning. Tobie Landry delivered the big blow of the at bat, doubling in a run.
Sacred Heart picked up three more runs in the bottom of the second inning, as Camille Soileau, Olivia Hernandez and Sydney Soileau all crossed the plate to give the Lady Trojans a 6-0 lead.
The big innings for Sacred Heart came in the bottom of the third and fourth innings, as the Lady Trojans combined for 10 runs in the two innings.
Landry led the way at the plate for Sacred Heart, going three for four with three doubles and four RBI. Hernandez was also three for four in the game.
Against Loreauville on Tuesday, the hits piled up for the Lady Trojans but runs were at a premium. Despite collecting 10 hits on the afternoon, Sacred Heart managed to scored all of the runs in only two of the seven innings played and left 11 runners on the bags. Nevertheless, the Lady Trojans got the runs necessary to secure the win.
Sacred Heart put up the first run of the game in the top of the second inning. Karli Fontenot walked and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Landry.
A ground out to the Lady Tiger third baseman was enough to move Fontenot up one bag, where she would score on a single from Camille Fontenot.
The final three runs for the Lady Trojans came in the top of the fourth.
