Mamou thrashes Northwest in doubleheader action Tuesday

MAMOU -- The Mamou Demons continued their quest for a spot in the playoffs, as they were able to ten-run rule the Northwest Raiders 15-1 and 12-1 in a doubleheader here Monday afternoon.
With the two wins, the Demons raised their overall record to 13-18 and their district record to 5-9. Mamou will host Westminster today with game time set for 6 p.m.
In game one, Mamou struck early and often, plating seven runs in the second inning to jump out to the big lead. Devin Boone reached on an error to lead things off. After a strikeout, Mason Reed, Tanner Atchinson, Gavin Pommier, Daylon Ardoin and Kayden Serie all singled and scored.
Blake Boone walked, and reached second on a second walk issued to Devin Boone. Blake would steal third and home to complete the Demon scoring.
In the third inning, Mamou plated two more runs, as Reed and Pommier each touched home plate.
Northwest managed to score their lone run in the top of the fourth. However, the Demons answered resoundingly in the bottom half of the inning by adding six more runs.
Doubles by Devin Boone and Zack Morein, along with a single off of the bat of Tanner Rougeau did the damage for Mamou in the inning.
The Demons held the Raiders scoreless in the top of the fifth to seal the run-rule win.
In game two, it was Northwest that got on the board first, scoring a solo run in their first at bat of the game. But, Mamou came back with eight runs to bust open the game in the bottom half of the inning.
With one out, Reed was hit by the pitch and reached home plate on a major error by the Raider defense with Serie at the plate. Serie reached third on a passed ball. Rougeau took first base after getting hit by the pitch and proceeded to steal second base.
Serie would score on a single from Devin Boone, moving up Rougeau to third base. Boone stole second base. Zack Morein was hit by the pitch, putting runners at first and second. An error off of the bat of Atchinson scored Rougeau and loaded the bases.
Wesley Marcantel was also hit by the pitch, plating Boone and keeping the bases juiced. Pommier walked, scoring Morein and loading the bases once again. Ardoin followed with a single scoring Atchinson.
Marcantel touched home on a sacrifice fly and Pommier would score on an error.
The Demons added their final four runs in the bottom of the second inning.
