Lady Trojans, Lady Panthers just short in final game

Despite the fact that the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans and the Pine Prairie Lady Panthers are on their way to the LHSAA playoffs this coming week, both squads were hoping to finish the season on a winning note.
Unfortunately, both clubs came up short in their final regular season games, as the Lady Trojans fell to Rapides 2-0 and the Lady Panthers dropped a heartbreaker to Pineville 5-4. Both games were played on Wednesday.
Here is a rundown of those two games.

Rapides vs.
Sacred Heart
It was just not Sacred Heart’s day at the plate, as the Lady Mustangs were able to hold the Lady Trojans to no hits and allowed only two base runners all game long.
The only two runs of the game came in the top of the third inning, when Rapides plated two runs on three hits, including a double.
The biggest highlight of the game for Sacred Heart was the combined pitching of Camille Fontenot and Aubrey Foret. The two hurlers allowed only six hits while striking out four and walking two.

Pine Prairie
vs. Pineville
An exciting contest came down to the last at bat and regrettably it was not the Lady Panthers who owned that at bat.
Pine Prairie scored the first run of the game in the top of the second when Brianna Wall scored on a single off of the bat of Jacie McFarlain.
The Lady Rebels answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game up.
Pineville took the lead in the bottom of the third, scoring two more runs to increase their lead to 3-1.
In the top of the fifth, the Lady Panthers evened things up once again, getting two runs across home plate. The big hit in the inning was a double from McFarlain.
The Lady Rebels forged ahead once again in the bottom of the fifth, scoring a single run on a solo home run.
Pine Prairie did not relent. The Lady Panthers knotted the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh when Maycie Hardy singled and scored on an error with Asia George at bat.
That lead did not last, however, as Pineville ended the game on a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh innning.
