LAKE ARTHUR -- In probably their best game they have played all season long, the Ville Platte Bulldogs put a scare into the No. 8 ranked Lake Arthur Tigers in a valiant 8-4 loss on the road Tuesday afternoon.
With the loss, Ville Platte dropped to 4-14 on the year and 0-7 in district play. The Bulldogs will host East Beauregard Saturday in a non-district contest. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
“I was very proud of the way we went out and competed today,” stated Ville Platte head coach Ski Doucet. “They really gave a tremendous effort. This is the best we have played in a long time. I just hope that this momentum we gained today can carry us over for the rest of the season.”
After a scoreless first inning, Ville Platte put some pressure on Lake Arthur by putting up the first run of the game in the top of the second inning.
Leslie Foreman walked to lead things off for the Bulldogs. Taylen Thomas moved Foreman to second base on a single. Foreman would cross the plate when Chad Johson singled as well.
Lake Arthur regrouped on offense long enough to come up with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
Ville Platte tied the game in the top of the third by plating two more runs. A double by Alex Griffith and a single off of the bat of Noah Doucet led the charge in the at bat for the Bulldogs.
The Tigers regained the lead in the bottom of the inning by producing three more runs.
Ville Platte added a single run in the top of the fourth inning.
