Roy reaches 1,000 point milestone; VPHS beats North Central

Ville Platte High’s Terrian Roy reached a huge milestone in his basketball career, as they senior point guard picked up his 1,000th point in a game played a few weeks ago.

VILLE PLATTE -- The Ville Platte High basketball teams collected some much needed power points Friday night as they motored past the Mamou Demons and Lady Demons in District 5-3A contests.

LHSAA principals vote down chance to kill playoff split

BATON ROUGE -- Split playoffs will remain in the world of the LHSAA. A week from this past Friday, principals from around the state rejected a proposal from North Vermilion principal Tommy Byler that would have put the Louisiana high schools back together in the playoffs.

Fighting like Trojans

OPELOUSAS -- Despite losing both district contests on the road Tuesday night, the Sacred Heart basketball teams fought like true Trojans, giving the Opelousas Catholic hard court squads all they could handle.

Mamou drops two to Iota in district competition

MAMOU -- The Mamou Demons and Lady Demons had no luck hosting the Iota Bulldogs and Lady Dogs, as both Mamou teams dropped district games to their opposition Tuesday night. The Lady Demons fought hard throughout the contest but still lost a tough 53-25 game against the Lady Dogs.

Pine Prairie splits with Church Point; Basile falls on road

In action around the parish Tuesday night, the Pine Prairie basketball teams came away with a split at home in district contests with the Church Point Bears and the Lady Bears, while the Basile Lady Bearcats were unable to secure a win on the road against East Beauregard.

Leaving marks

VILLE PLATTE -- The Ville Platte High Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs left their teeth marks all over the Pine Prairie Panthers and Lady Panthers as they swept a district doubleheader Friday night.

Twice pecked

VILLE PLATTE -- The Sacred Heart basketball teams were unable to overcome the tenacity of the St. Ed’s hard court squads in a district doubleheader Thursday night.

One-edged sword

OPELOUSAS -- The Sacred Heart basketball teams were only able to cut into their Westminster counterparts with one edge of the sword Tuesday night, as the Lady Trojans took down the Lady Crusaders 39-21 while the Trojans fell 55-43 to the Crusaders.

Ville Platte notches district wins over Church Point

VILLE PLATTE -- The Ville Platte Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs dominated the Church Point Bears and Lady Bears, with each Ville Platte squad winning by double digits. The ladies won 65-43 while the boys won 62-43. The Bulldogs improve to 17-9 on the season and 3-1 in district play.
