On February 15, 2022, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene of a shooting that occurred at the intersection of Woodstone Rd. and St. Julien in the Chataignier area.

Turkey Creek release official statement on officer involved incident

On February 01, 2022 an incident occurred at the Y-NOT stop in Vidrine Louisiana in reference to an officer within the Turkey Police Department. It was said From the 911 operator stated that the officer was threatening individuals with a firearm and that they needed assistance.

Merger of fire departments is discussed

An event 11 years in the making is getting off of the ground after the Lone Pine Fire Department received a 5 fire rating. That rating is equal to the fire rating of the Ward 5 Fire Department, which means the two departments can finally be merged together.

Construction of proposed cell tower is discussed

The Ville Platte City Council heard from Tom Holiman, CEO/Owner of TriCom Real Estate at their February 8 meeting. Holiman was there to represent cell tower company Vertical Bridge, which has been enlisted by AT&T to place another tower in Ville Platte. AT&T has a tower next to Walmart.
