Chicota Youth Camp Site Director Curtis Henry Jr. has announced his bid to run for a seat on the Evangeline Parish School Board from District 5 in the November election.
Henry’s announcement is as follows:
My name is Curtis Henry Jr., and I am elated to formally announce my bid to run for the school board member seat for District 5. As a resident of District 5, it would be an honor to have the opportunity to serve my community in this position.
I have lived and worked in the Bayou Chicot area for most of my life. Jackie Henry is my lovely wife of 44 years. We have two children, Patrick Henry and Marquettiea Henry. We also have one grandson, Joshua Semien. I’m a member of the Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church. I’ve served on the deacon board for several years. I’m also the site director for Chicota Youth Camp. I’ve worked these positions for the past 30 years. My membership with Prince Hall Masonic and Order of Eastern Star has been fulfilling. I have been a member for 37 years with PHA and 15 years with OES.
It has also been a privilege to be involved with the community. I was the booster club president for five years, and I served as a member for 10 years. I also volunteered with EPYB. I have also served on the board for Acadiana Legal Services for eight years. Being a member of the school board means the community endorses you as a trustee. It will be a great opportunity to serve my community and district as your school board member.
