ECAA announces availability of water and wastewater assistance funds for low income households

VILLE PLATTE - The La. Health and Welfare Access Program provides critical emergency water and wastewater payment support for low-income households, so families are not forced to choose between paying for water services and other necessities such as housing, food, and medicine.

New chief of police salary is approved

The Pine Prairie council, at its meeting held Thursday, February 10, adopted an ordinance setting the biweekly salary of the chief of police at $1,353.85. The new salary become effective on March 1. In other business, the council adopted an amendment to the zoning ordinance.

EPPJ votes to work toward solutions for a new parish jail

After hearing from Evangeline Parish Sheriff Charles Guilloruy during its meeting held Monday, February 7, the Evangeline Parish Police Jury voted to work toward constructing a new parish jail in the Industrial Park.

New sewer plant to be installed in Ville Platte

The Ville Platte City Council discussed a new sewer plant at its February 8 meeting. The current sewer plant is almost 40 years old and the equipment is antiquated, some of which cannot be replaced anymore. According to City Engineer Ronnie Landreneau, the plant was built in the 1980s.
