Minister’s Corner: Death to the old nature

When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. We figuratively bury the “self,” which is symbolized in baptism. We keep our bodies under so the Spirit rules, therefore death to the old nature is a necessity.

Ville Platte students named to ULM Homecoming Court

Natalie LeBas of Ville Platte was crowned the University of Louisiana Monroe homecoming queen during halftime of the ULM-South Alabama football game on Oct. 23. The Warhawks won the game 41-31. LeBas was selected for the homecoming court for her outstanding student involvement.

VP Rotary: New Savoy Medical Center CEO gives updates

Lance Armentor, new CEO of Savoy Medical Center, was invited by Rotarian Jackie Riche’ to address the November 2, meeting of the Ville Platte Rotary Club. Riche’ noted CEO Gene Burge recently retired and Armentor took over the CEO position this week.

Holly Kay of Lake Charles was crowned Queen Cotton LXVII during pageant festivities held Saturday evening, October 23. Kay is the daughter of Keith and Robin Kay of Robeline.
