According to Ville Platte Chief of Police Al Perry Thomas, Jared Lee Delvon Freeman is in custody after being extradited from Los Angeles, Calif. Authorities from the city returned with the suspect on Saturday, September 30.

On Thursday, October 5, at approximately 6:34 a.m., the Mamou Police Department initiated an investigation into a single motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Hwy 95 between the intersections of East Street and Tate Street.

An investigation of a drive by shooting, by the Mamou Police Department, lead to the arrest of Malik Rashawnski Moton, 21, of 404 MLK Mamou and the hospitalization of Jamien Williams, 24, of 1067 Shorty Lane, Mamou.

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory announced Ricki Lafleur, of Evangeline Parish, has been named the recipient of an academic scholarship from the Louisiana Sheriff's Scholarship Program. She resides in Mamou and plans to attend ULM and pursue psychology as a field of study.

Attempted burglary of carwash leads to arrests

Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, on August 23, received a complaint of an attempted business burglary that occurred at the carwash located at 3030 Old Hwy 13.
