Evangeline Parish hard court teams face rough night

It was not a very good night for the remainder of the parish basketball teams, as both Mamou and Pine Prairie boys and girls dropped important district contests Tuesday. Here is a rundown of all of those games.

Biting back

In an effort to continue collecting power points for the playoffs, both the Ville Platte High Bulldogs and the Lady Bulldogs traveled down Highway 190 to take on the Kinder Yellow Jackets and the Lady Jackets.

Saints seeking to halt the magical ride of St. Nick

When the Philadelphia Eagles come flying into New Orleans today for their Divisional Playoff game against the Saints, they will be hoping to show that the 48-7 beat down given to them by the New Orleans in week 11 was just a speed bump on their way to back-to-back Super Bowl titles.

Pine Prairie secures huge win; other parish teams fall

It was a rough outing for most of the parish teams as only the Pine Prairie Panthers and the Ville Platte Bulldogs (see story above) could secure a win Friday night. With all of the teams now in district play, wins are critical; not only for district positioning, but also for power points.

Double dipping

PINE PRAIRIE -- The Pine Prairie Panthers and Lady Panthers secured huge district wins Tuesday night as they doubled up the Mamou Demons and Lady Demons in a battle of inter-parish rivals.

Ville Platte boys pick up huge district win; girls suffer big loss

VILLE PLATTE -- The Ville Platte Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs took on the Lake Arthur Tigers and Lady Tigers Tuesday night in key district contests for both teams. The Lady Bulldogs fell 55-26 to a dominating Lady Tiger team that took over in the first quarter and never looked back.

On the prowl

CHURCH POINT -- The Pine Prairie hoops teams went on the prowl here Wednesday night, hoping to hunt down more wins to add to their impressive totals this season.

Mamou girls down Port Barre; boys fall in close contest

PORT BARRE -- The Mamou Demons and Lady Demons faced off here Wednesday night against the Port Barre Devils and Lady Devils in two nail biting close games. The Lady Demons came on top in their showing, beating out the Lady Devils 31-29.

Playoffs begin in earnest; here are some fearless picks

The 2019 NFL Playoffs are now officially underway. With those post-season games come some interesting match-ups and stories. First and foremost, in the NFC, will the New Orleans Saints be able to take advantage of their No. 1 seed, as they did in 2009 and ride it all the way to a Super Bowl trophy?

Fending them off

EUNICE-- This past Friday night the Sacred Heart Trojans took to the court against the St. Edmund Blue Jays in a non-district battle for bragging rights in this rivalry series. After jumping out to a quick lead Sacred Heart was able to fend off a late St. Ed’s run to take down the Blue Jays 47-44.
