LHSAA announces Prep Classic game schedule; area teams still in the hunt

BATON ROUGE -- On Monday, the Louisiana High School Athletic Association released the Prep Classic football state championship game schedule to be played December 27-30 at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

VILLE PLATTE -- A late fourth quarter surge helped propel the Sacred Heart Trojans to a 43-39 win over the Ascension Episcopal Gators Wednesday night. Unfortunately, Sacred Heart was unable to stretch that win streak to two games, as they fell to the Notre Dame Pioneers 56-42 on Thursday evening.

Pine Prairie defense shows up in big way with win at St. Ed’s

EUNICE -- It was the play of the Pine Prairie defense that shown through Thursday night, as the Lady Panthers sprinted past the St. Edmund Lady Blue Jays 41-29. With the win, Pine Prairie improves to 6-3 on the year. The Lady Panthers are scheduled to host the Oakdale Lady Warriors Tuesday night.

Ville Platte secures huge win; Sacred Heart, Pine Prairie fall

The Ville Platte High Bulldogs pulled off a huge win Thursday night when they took down the Northside Vikings 60-57 in the opening game of the Northside High Tournament.

VILLE PLATTE -- In a game that Ville Platte trailed at halftime, the Bulldogs utilized a giant fourth quarter push to take down the Crowley Gents 57-40 Tuesday night. With the win, Ville Platte improves to 5-1 on the season.
