The Ville Platte High Bulldogs pulled off a huge win Thursday night when they took down the Northside Vikings 60-57 in the opening game of the Northside High Tournament.
Meanwhile, the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans were unable to catch up to the Ascension Episcopal Lady Gators in a 29-26 loss Wednesday night and the Pine Prairie Panthers could not overcome a 31-8 disadvantage in the first quarter in an 85-61 loss to the Oakdale Warriors Thursday.
Here is a roundup of those three games played.

Ville Platte (B)
vs. Northside
Ville Platte fell behind early in this contest, trailing Northside 17-13 as the first quarter came to a close. The Bulldogs were only outscored by one point, 11-10, in the second period, but still found themselves five points down by the end of the half.
The third quarter saw Ville Platte emerge with better offensive and defensive performances, as the Bulldogs forged to a 17-13 advantage and cut the Northside led down to one point. Ville Platte continued their excellent second half play in the final quarter, out producing the Vikings 20-16 to seal the win.
Ville Platte moves to 6-1 on the year with the win.

Ascension Episcopal
vs. Sacred Heart (G)
Both Sacred Heart and Ascension Episcopal struggled to find points in the first quarter of play, as the Lady Gators finished the period with a 10-6 lead. The two offenses still could not find any type of rhythm in the second period, with the Lady Trojans earning a 6-5 advantage as the teams headed into the locker room.
The Lady Gators bolstered their lead in the third quarter, taking a 27-19 lead into the final quarter. Sacred Heart attempted to claw their way back in the fourth period, but came up just short of making a comeback.
The Lady Trojans fall to 1-4 on the season with the loss.

Pine Prairie
vs. Oakdale (B)
Oakdale wasted no time in claiming their win over Pine Prairie, outscoring the Panthers by 23 points in the first quarter.
The Panthers owned the second and third quarters respectfully, outgunning the Warriors by six points combined. However, the big disadvantage in the first quarter was too much to overcome for Pine Prairie.
