Heritage Manor announces Employee and Resident of the Month

Gordon Fontenot (left photo) was chosen as Resident of the Month for March at Heritage Manor, while Michaella Fontenot (right photo) was chosen as Employee of the Month. Gordon is very sociable and loves all activities, staff and other residents. He and his mother enjoy sitting outdoors.

Weather forces closures and sandbags to be filled

Evangeline Parish was impacted by heavy rains that fell Tuesday, March 22. Some areas reported two inches of rainfall. The weather closed all public schools in the parish as well as Sacred Heart and closed Ville Platte City Hall.

RAMP IS DONATED

Floyd Soileau and Randel Chapman each presented a check to the City of Ville Platte for the payment of the construction costs of a handicap ramp at the Ville Platte Civic Center. The ramp was completed in time for the use at this year’s Swamp Pop Reunion Dance. Swamp Pop singer-performer legend T.K.

Open House and Ribbon Cutting is held at LaBrie’s

A Ribbon Cutting and an Open House was held on Friday, February 18, 2022 for LaBrie’s Child Daycare Center, LLC located at 203 N. Coreil St. in Ville Platte. The event was a huge success with a large turnout supporting the opening of the daycare.

Black History Month service is held

As Black History Month came to a close, Greater Golden Light Baptist Church of Basile recognized those who have made educational achievements in the community during the church’s Sunday services on February 27. Those recognized are pictured above.

New Flag is raised at Swamp Pop Museum

The tattered flag at the Swamp Pop Museum was replaced on Thursday, February 24, prior to the Swamp Pop Reunion planned for Monday evening, February 28. Woodmen of the World graciously donated the new flag, and VVA chapter #632 agreed to dedicate and raise the new flag during the ceremony.

Sandra Thibodeaux (left photo) was chosen as Resident of the Month for February at Heritage Manor, while Mary Thrasher (right photo) was chosen as Employee of the Month. Thibodeaux has been a resident at the facility for six months and is a blessing to the staff and residents.

EP festival queens represent parish well at LAFF

Evangeline Parish festival royalty attended the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals convention and Queen of Queens Pageant the weekend of February 4-6, in Baton Rouge.

National Activity Professionals Week recognized

Heritage Manor recently celebrated National Activities Professionals Week, which is celebrated the last week of January. It is designed to honor activity professionals and the significant role they play in enriching the lives of the elderly and those they serve.
