As Black History Month came to a close, Greater Golden Light Baptist Church of Basile recognized those who have made educational achievements in the community during the church’s Sunday services on February 27. Those recognized are pictured above.

New Flag is raised at Swamp Pop Museum

The tattered flag at the Swamp Pop Museum was replaced on Thursday, February 24, prior to the Swamp Pop Reunion planned for Monday evening, February 28. Woodmen of the World graciously donated the new flag, and VVA chapter #632 agreed to dedicate and raise the new flag during the ceremony.

Sandra Thibodeaux (left photo) was chosen as Resident of the Month for February at Heritage Manor, while Mary Thrasher (right photo) was chosen as Employee of the Month. Thibodeaux has been a resident at the facility for six months and is a blessing to the staff and residents.

Alvin Soileau (left photo) was chosen as Resident of the Month for January at Heritage Manor, while Lakeithia Freeman (right photo) was chosen as Employee of the Month. Soileau is a 99 year old WWII veteran and serves as vice president of the resident council.

Sacred Heart presents Christmas Under the Oaks

On the 12th night of Christmas, Thursday, January 6, the Sacred Heart junior class presented Christmas Under the Oaks outside Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
