On Friday, April 15, the Catholic faithful of Ville Platte and Mamou joined for the annual Walk with Christ and Good Friday services held at Our Lady, Queen of All Saints Church and St. Ann’s. In Ville Platte, the threat of inclement weather cancelled the walk, however, the Stations of the Cross were conducted inside OLQAS at 1 p.m. and led by Father Tom Voorhies of Sacred Heart, Father Mitch Guidry of OLQAS, and members of all three Catholic churches in the city. The Good Friday service followed at 3 p.m. and included a veneration of the cross which contained a replica of the true cross. In the top left photo, Jim Boyne is seen venerating the cross which is being held by Deacon Ben Soileau (right). The walk in Mamou began at the church on Sixth Street and made its way around town, ending up back at church. Many faithful participated by taking turns carrying the cross, reading the stations of the cross, and leading the prayers. Father Billy Massie led the group in praying the Rosary along the route. In the top right, the participants genuflect while praying. In the bottom left photo, Father Massie follows along as Myla Manuel reads during one of the stations of the cross.
