During the July 7, meeting of the Ville Platte Rotary Club, President Dr. Kirk Soileau (left) presented long-tine member Brent Coreil with the Rotarian of the Year Award. Before announcing Coreil as the recipient, Dr. Kirk Soileau stated the award is going to a member who has been in the club for many, many years. Coreil said he joined Rotary in 1974 and is very appreciative of the award. “You know I love Rotary. It has been very good to me. I like to give back when I can.” He added we need to get some younger business people interested in our club to support our activities.” He continued, “It is important for us to be active in the community. That’s what Rotary is about, making the community better, making our community grow and prosper doing the right things.” He concluded, “I am very honored and I hope to be able to serve in Rotary for a very long time.” (Gazette photos by Heather Bogard)
