Heritage Manor announces Employee and Resident of the Month

Clyde Lafleur (left photo) was chosen as Resident of the Month for August at Heritage Manor, while Kelsie Thomas (right photo) was chosen as Employee of the Month. Lafleur enjoys socializing with the staff and other residents, sitting outdoors and attending group activities.

School Supply Drive

St. Landry-Evangeline United Way is hosting a Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive. Donate a pre-made supply kit or make a bulk order. All supplies purchased will be delivered to United Way at no additional costs. Donations will be accepted through Friday, August 5.

King honored at retirement celebration from library

Long-time Evangeline Parish Library employee and Turkey Creek branch manager Tina King recently retired from the library system after 22 years. She, along with her family, friends and fellow library staff, enjoyed a retirement celebration at the Turkey Creek branch on Friday, July 22.

Ville Platte hosts Super 10 state tournament

The Ville Platte/Evangeline Parish Recreational Complex hosted the Louisiana Dixie Youth Super 10 State Tournament on Friday, July 22, and Saturday, July 23. From Jefferson Parish came Lakeshore, the winner of the south regional.

CES cheerleaders receive awards, attend cheer camp

On July 11 through July 13, the Chataignier Elementary Cheerleaders along with Coach Tonya Ortego, attended a cheer camp hosted by the Ville Platte High School Varsity Bulldog Cheerleaders and Coach Charlie Sonnier.

Three parish teams head to state tournament

For what is considered the first time ever, three teams from Evangeline Parish are headed to a Dixie Youth State Tournament as the 8U Coach Pitch All-Star teams from Ville Platte, Mamou, and Pine Prairie qualified for state.

Mamou All-Stars head to state

Joining the 8U Coach Pitch All-Stars from Ville Platte and Pine Prairie at the state tournament in Monroe is the team from Mamou. The tournament begins today and runs until Sunday, July 17.

EPSO again teams up with the Krewe de Evangeline Coalition to help prevent the progression of underage drinking

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department worked an Under Age Drinking Detail within Evangeline Parish in an effort to help reduce the number of those under the legal age who are consuming alcoholic beverages.
