For what is considered the first time ever, three teams from Evangeline Parish are headed to a Dixie Youth State Tournament as the 8U Coach Pitch All-Star teams from Ville Platte, Mamou, and Pine Prairie qualified for state.

Joining the 8U Coach Pitch All-Stars from Ville Platte and Pine Prairie at the state tournament in Monroe is the team from Mamou. The tournament begins today and runs until Sunday, July 17.

The Evangeline Parish School District honored its top support personnel at each campus during an award ceremony held Tuesday, May 24, at the Crawfish Barn in Vidrine. Recognized as the overall support personnel of the year was Danny Bellard, a custodian at James Stephens Montessori.
