Candlelight vigil is held

A candlelight vigil was held Monday, December 12, in Turkey Creek at Jake’s Seafood & Grill and was sponsored by the support group Left Behind that is held monthly at the restaurant. The group was created this past year when parents were asking for help with their grief.

EPPJ holds French meeting

The Evangeline Parish Police Jury held its annual French meeting on Tuesday, December 13. After the opening prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, National Anthem were conducted in French, French Immersion students from Ville Platte Elementary and Mamou Elementary (top photo) performed Christmas carols.

Santa visits Mamou bringing Christmas cheer

The main branch of the Evangeline Parish Library hosted a holiday event called Tribute to Rodrigue with Miss Ville Platte 2023 Anna Steckler and her father, Gary.

Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and Gumbo Cook-off are held

On Saturday, October 22, the Village of Chataignier held its 4th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk and Gumbo Cook-off at the village’s recreational park. The day also included a fun jump and music, and soft drinks, bottled water, and T-shirts were available for purchase.
