SHS 2022 Homecoming Court announced

Sacred Heart High School will celebrate its Homecoming Friday, November 4, with a game against the North Central Hurricanes. Mass will be held at 8:10 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. A pep rally will then be held at 10:45 a.m., followed by the parade at 4:00 p.m. and the game at 7 p.

Contradanse opens festival

The annual Contrandanse held Tuesday evening October 11, kicked off Cotton Festival events for the week. A nice crowd turned out to support the event, and the nursing home residents enjoyed getting dressed up for an evening out.

Danyelle’s and Camey’s meet the Tournoi

On Wednesday, October 5, students at Danyelle’s and Camey’s Day Care Centers attended a field trip out to the Tournoi track.

Students from Mamou High School will provide entertainment during Cotton Festival events such as the Royal Reception and the Cotton Coronation.

Contradansers keep tradition alive at Cotton Festival

This year’s youth Contradanse team has been practicing hard under the leadership of instructors Melanie and Rob Soileau. They will perform Tuesday evening, October 11, at the Northside Civic Center beginning at 5 p.m. to help officially kick off Cotton Festival Week.

Meet the previous Le Roi et La Reine

The late Horace Fontenot, the previous Le Roi, (left) and the late Anna Siffert, the previous La Reine (right) are pictured. Fontenot was a native of Ville Platte. He had five children, 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was a pipeline worker and is an Army veteran.

Ribbon cutting is held at Savoy Medical Center for Pine Claire Creations

Grand Opening for Pine Claire Creations (Savoy Hospital Lobby), located at 801 Poinciana in Mamou, was held Thursday, September 1. They will be open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Cajun culture lovers from near and far converged on Lakeview Park and Beach as Le Grand Hoorah made a festive return. The festivities began on Saturday, September 24, with a boucherie by the Pa-ta-sa Cooking Krewe.
