VPFD to host Fire Prevention Week Activities for students

In recognition of National Fire Prevention Week (October 3-9), the Ville Platte Fire Department will be welcoming two classes of young students to the Lincoln Road Fire Station on Wednesday, October 6. The first class will begin at 8:30 a.m., while the next class will be held at 10 a.m.

Contraband is located on Pine Prairie school campus

On September 30th, 2021 Pine Prairie Police was notified of possible contraband on the school campus of Pine Prairie High School located by administrators. Based on evidence, the school was temporary placed on a Level 2 lockdown and a K9 search was performed.

Galloping around a dirt track while trying to collect rings with a lance is a Ville Platte tradition that dates back to the mid 20th Century when the Tournoi was revived after being brought over by the original French settlers of the area.

On the 9 th of September 2021 the Evangeline Parish Sheriffs Departments Narcotics Unit along with the Criminal Investigations Unit, conducted a search warrant on a residence located 1020 Rev. E D Alfred Street in Ville Platte.

Blake enjoys living Zydeco culture

Cajun and Swamp Pop music seem to dominate the musical landscape of Evangeline Parish, but another form of music is woven into the cultural tapestry of the area. Up and coming Zydeco artist Raylon Blake from Ville Platte defined the genre as being more than just the music.
