This past weekend Evangeline Parish Deputies were out on patrol looking for Seat Belt and other violations. The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission awarded the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department a Grant to conduct this specialized detail.

By: TONY MARKS Editor After two years away because of COVID-19, the Flat Town Culinary Academy returned as part of the programs offered through the Ville Platte Girls-Boys Place. Because of the hiatus, Chef Terryl Jackson had to start from scratch to rebuild the program.

Public input to be heard on amended traffic fines

By: TONY MARKS Editor With work taking place on U.S. Hwy 167 N, the Turkey Creek Police Department caught people removing warning signs and tearing trash bags off of signs. The offenders were written tickets, but the charge of tampering with barricades was not in the system.

MAMOU - Funeral services were held at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, July 23, 2022, for Maurice Coutee Jr., 72, who passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022. Burial took place in Pine Clair Cemetery.

Qualifying period ends for local races

By: TONY MARKS Editor As the November election date nears, local candidates began lining up at the Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court’s Office, on Wednesday, July 20, to submit their paperwork to the secretary of state’s office and qualify for their respective races.
