Summer Reading fun wraps up this week with programs at the main library and all branches: Tuesday, July 26, Turkey Creek branch at 10 a.m. and Chataignier branch at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, July 27, Pine Prairie branch at 10 a.m. then Mamou branch at 2 p.m.; Thursday, July 28, Basile branch at 10 a.m. then Ville Platte main at 2 p.m. Each branch will have a special and unique event so please visit the Facebook page of your branch for details. This week at the Main library in Ville Platte: Tuesday, July 26 at 1 p.m. is “Allons Parler En François”! (We encourage folks to bring kids too!) Then at 2 p.m. is Grief Counseling with Delilah Elmore, which is free of charge and offered by the Louisiana Hospice & Palliative Care. Note: There will not be a Mystery Book Club meeting this month. The next meeting is August 31 to discuss “The Investigator” by John Sandford. New members are always welcomed. New challenge for middle and high school students from around the parish from Congressman Mike Johnson! The Congressional App Challenge is a public effort to encourage students to learn how to code, through annual districtwide competitions hosted by Members of Congress for their district. You can register at CongressionalAppChallenge.us. The Challenge will run until November 1, 2022. Do you want to create a game? Do you want to create an app to solve a problem? There is no limit to what you can create for the Congressional App Challenge. Drop by the main library or any branch to pick up a flyer or visit the main library webpage and Facebook page for details.
NEW: The main library and all branches will begin accepting payments for fines, copies, faxes and other library related services using a credit or debit card for a minimum payment of $1.00. A service fee of $.50 per transaction will be applied.
