Early voting for general election ends Sat.

By: TONY MARKS Editor At the close of business on Tuesday, November 7, 361 parish resident voted early for the general election which is slated for Saturday, November 18. Early voting continues in the registrar of voters office from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. through Saturday, November 11.

Deputy resigns amid investigation

By: TONY MARKS Editor Deputy Joshua Lafleur resigned from the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office amid a Louisiana State Police investigation into alleged inmate abuse. The investigation began after a video surfaced where a deputy was seen abusing inmates in the parish jail.

No quorum is reached

By: TONY MARKS Editor The Evangeline Parish School Board did not hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, November 1, for lack of a quorum. Seven of the 13 members were needed for a quorum, and only four were present.

Energy assistance is available through ECAA

The Evangeline Community Action Agency Inc. is announcing the availability of funds dedicated to assist eligible low income households with their energy payments. All applications are taken on a first come, first served basis.
