Tri-Parish jobless rate, workforce holds steady

Staff Report The Tri-Parish workforce in September held steady and unemployment rates changed little from a year ago, according to statistic released by Louisiana Workforce Commission. Louisiana’s not seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September is 3.6%.

Unrestrained Driver Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash in Evangeline Parish

Evangeline Parish – At approximately 9:00 p.m. on November 4, 2023, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I were notified of a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 104 near Richardson Lane. The crash claimed the life of 42-year-old Anthony J. Bias of Mamou.

Bulldogs head to state cross country meet

Two Bulldog cross country runners from Ville Platte High qualified for the state meet in Natchitoches on Monday, November 13. Ja'Kylin Manley placed 22nd and Kaden Ardoin placed 24th at the regional cross country meet.

On September 12, 2023, the Evangeline Parish Criminal Patrol Division conducted a traffic stop on the Lithcote Rd. in reference to a traffic violation. When speaking with the driver of the vehicle, Deputies were granted permission to search the vehicle.
