Suspects are indicted

After meeting for one day on November 7,2023, the Grand Jury returned
indictments on five cases.
The Grand Jury indicted Jared Lee Freeman, age 31, of Ville Platte, on the
charges of Second Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm by Person Convicted of
Certain Felonies, and two (2) counts of Obstruction of Justice. The charges stem
from an incident which occurred on or about August 2l , 2023. Arraignment on this
case is set for November 11, 2023, before the Honorable Judge Chuck West.
The Grand Jury indicted Marcus Paul Arvie, age 23, of Ville Platte, on the
charges of Principle to Second Degree Murder and Obstruction of Justice. The
charges stem from an incident which occurred on or about August 21, 2023.
Arraignment on this case is set for November l l, 2023,before the Honorable Judge
Marcus Fontenot.
The Grand Jury indicted Shawn Labrinskie Thomas, age 27, of Ville Platte,
on the charges of Principle to Second Degree Murder and two (2) counts of
Obstruction of Justice. The charges stem from an incident which occurred on or
about August 21,2023. Arraignment on this case is set for November 11,2023,
before the Honorable Judge Marcus Fontenot.
The Grand Jury indicted Jaylon Brice Lee Thomas, age2l, of Ville Platte, on
the charges of Principle to Second Degree Murder and two (2) counts of Obstruction
ofJustice. The charges stem from an incident which occurred on or about August
2t,2023.
The Grand Jury indicted Dalonzo Davon Alfred, age 23, of Ville Platte, on
the charges of Principle to Second Degree Murder and Obstruction of Justice. The
charges stem from an incident which occurred on or about August 21,2023.

Assistant District Attorney Jacob B. Fusilier represented the State and
presented the cases to the Grand Jury. Special Assistant District Attorney Sydia
Robin assisted in the presentation.
