Mamou council authorizes collection of passed tax

By: HEATHER BOGARD Associate Editor During the Mamou Council meeting held November 8, Mayor Leisa Deshotel thanked the residents of Mamou for passing the tax on October 14. She said, “It was much needed and greatly appreciated.” The monies raised from the tax will greatly benefit the Town of Mamou.

Marvin Guy Newsom Jr., an ultimate family man, was called to the Lord on October 17, 2023. Guy was born to Marvin Guy Newsom Sr. and Betty Jean (Manley) Newsom on September 10, 1952, in Kermit, Texas. The Newsom family soon settled in Mamou.
