Staff Report There is a new champion of the Ville Platte Gazette Pigskin Picks as advertising executive Becky Nelson was crowned queen. She went 6-4 in the final week of the contest and finished with an overall record of 92-38.

Basile marches past Oberlin and into quarterfinals against familiar Haynesville

By: SYLIS MANUEL Staff Reporter BASILE - The Basile Bearcats stifled the Oberlin Tigers 19-8 in a largely run-centric offensive effort from both teams. Basile, with the win, now hosts Haynesville, who defeated Oakdale 36-16, in their quarterfinal playoff match up Friday night.
