Staff Report

There is a new champion of the Ville Platte Gazette Pigskin Picks as advertising executive Becky Nelson was crowned queen. She went 6-4 in the final week of the contest and finished with an overall record of 92-38. She says her championship parade will roll through downtown Lake Cove and will equal that of the Houston Astros’ championship parade.
Publisher Garland Forman, who was inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame this summer, finished in second place with an overall mark of 91-39. He went 5-5 in the final week of the contest. However, not all mail in ballots have been received.
Finishing the season tied for the third spot were advertising manager Kathy Longino, composition manager Monique Ardoin, and circulation manager Richard Guillory. They all went 88-42 during the season. Ardoin is just happy the Cowboys actually won on Thanksgiving.
Sports Editor Rhett Manuel went 6-4 during the final week to end the season at 82-48 and in fourth place. There is always next year for him to finish in the top three.
Associate Editor Heather Bogard finished in fifth place by going 5-5 in the final week. Her overall record was 81-49. She gets the sportsmanship award.
Even though Phillip Vidrine went 2-8 in Week 13, the guest slot finished the year at 75-55 and in sixth place. Hopefully next year, the guest will have an ace up its sleeve.
And, as usual, Editor Tony Marks brought up the rear by going 5-5 in the final week and 69-61 overall. Like the Cubs, he looks to make big moves in free agency this offseason. But, hey, at least he is winning his fantasy football league... somehow.
