Sheriff Charles R. Guillory, of the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office, released the following: On March 2, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Department Narcotic Units conducted a traffic stop in Ville Platte. Agents witnessed the driver throw something out as he was exiting the truck.

Faul is arrested for theft of tools; other arrests reported

On February 15, a victim reported to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office that a large amount of tools and power tools were stolen from his property located on Austin Rd. The total value of the victim's property is worth over several thousand dollars.

Merrell is arrested for crimes against juvenile

On January 11, 2023, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division with the assistance of Hearts of Hope opened an investigation in reference to a possible indecent behavior with a juvenile complaint.

Threats send VPHS into brief lockdown

Staff Report Ville Platte High School was sent into a brief lockdown following threats of violence on Tuesday, February 14. The Ville Platte Police Department reported an altercation at the school resulted in a student threatening to use a firearm.
