EPSO APPROVED FOR LITTER ABATEMENT GRANT

A Litter Abatement Grant has been approved through the Lieutenant Governor's Office, Billy Nungesser, for the EPSO. The Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office will begin conducting a Litter Abatement Program along the roadways withing the Parish. The Sheriff's Office received a Grant for $50,000 to start cleaning up the parish. We know that we have a problem with people throwing trash or dumping trash in areas that are remote. We will have a crew of trustees, along with one of our Deputies to monitor and ensure we are picking up the many problem areas.

The Sheriff would like to remind everyone to please bring your litter to a designated dumpsite, in which Evangeline Parish Solid Waste Commission has 4 throughout the parish. There are dumpsites in and around Basile, Mamou, Chataignier, Ville Platte and Pine Prairie. Please do not throw your litter or dump your unwanted items outside those designated dumpsites.
