EPSO Arrest Briefings

On March 16, 2023, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office responded to 1071 Chataigner Rd. (Dollar General) in reference to a theft. During the investigation it was learned that the suspect Sholanda Thomas B/F DOB 07/22/1986 of Ville Platte had stolen multiple items from the store and fled the scene in an unknown direction. She was later identified by Detectives through the stores video camera system. When questioning Thomas she admitted to taking the items. Thomas was later arrested for misdemeanor theft and issued a summons.

On March 24, 2023, Deputies with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the North Landing of Miller's Lake in reference to a possible stabbing. During the investigation it was discovered that the suspect Jonathan Deshotel W/M DOB 08/21/2003 of Ville Platte got into a verbal altercation with the victim. During that time the altercation turned physical and the suspect presented a knife cutting the victim in the right arm. The suspect then obtained a pair of jumper cable and strangled the victim. He was later apprehended and arrested for aggravated battery. He is currently being held in the Evangeline Parish Jail with a $50,000.00 Bond.

On March 14, 2023, Detectives with the Evangeline Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint of an unknown suspect obtaining the victim's credit card information and making multiple purchases at local stores. During the investigation and utilizing store video surveillance cameras, Detectives were able to identify suspect (Rickey Joseph B/M DOB 06/01/1970 of Mamou) as the one making those purchases in Evangeline Parish and St. Landry Parish. The total amounts of the purchases were for approximately $509.60. A warrant was later issued for the arrest of Rickey Joseph and he was later booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail for misdemeanor theft and monetary instrument abuse. His bond was set at $52,500.00.
