Shooting leaves one dead, one in hospital

One is dead and another is in the hospital after a shooting that occurred on the evening of Tuesday, July 25. According to Ville Platte Chief of Police Al Perry Thomas, the incident occurred near the intersection of Constitution Drive and N. Dupre Street. The matter is still under investigation.

Sheriff Charles R. Guillory is reporting the capture of escaped inmate Wille Price. Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department Deputies on July 24, 2023 learned of a location in Opelousas that the escaped inmate was hiding with a female acquaintance .

Turkey Creek looks to use lasers to slow speeders
