Festivals Acadiens et Créoles Music Lineup released

LAFAYETTE – Festivals Acadiens et Créoles announced the music lineup for the 50th annual three-day FREE Cajun and Zydeco music festival, which will take place Friday, Oct. 11, Saturday, Oct. 12, and Sunday, Oct. 13, at Girard Park in Lafayette.

Police Jury seeks AG opinion on solar farms

BESE recognizes Soileau as state finalist

Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) honored Tonya Soileau as one of 10 Outstanding School Support Employee of the Year on Wednesday. The ceremony was followed by a reception.

Resolution is presented to former school board member

By: TONY MARKS Editor In recognition of all her years of service to the Evangeline Parish School Board, Peggy Forman was presented a state resolution from State Senator Heather Cloud. The presentation was made during the Evangeline Parish School Board meeting held Wednesday, August 21.

VP, Basile to receive block grant to fight blight

The City of Ville Platte has been awarded $500,000 in grant money to help clean up blighted properties in the city. The Town of Basile has also been awarded a $250,000 grant. Both grants are through the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant (LCDBG) program.

Workforce grows despite unemployment rate increase

Unemployment rates were up in the Tri-Parish area in June, but the workforce grew by 326 or 0.5% compared to June 2023. The Tri-Parish workforce in June totaled 69,281, up from 68,955 in June 2023, according to data released by the Louisiana Workforce Commission on July 26.

Meeting is held with United States attorney over gun violence in city
