The Dixie Youth 6U T-Ball All Stars from Pine Prairie saw their season come to an end after competing in the district tournament that was held in Leesville this past weekend.

The Dixie Youth 7U Coach Pitch All Stars from Ville Platte ran through this past weekend’s tournament undefeated in Leesville and claimed the District 7 championship. The team now readies to compete in the state tournament in Ruston.

Former Queen Cotton is new Rayne Frog Festival Queen

RAYNE - Abigail Fruge was recently crowned the 49th Rayne Frog Festival Queen. She is the daughter of Rodney and Donna Fruge of Sulphur. Her father is a Basile native and BHS graduate of the Class of 1985. His Basile grandparents are the late Euta Fruge and the late Rodney Fruge, Sr.

For the first time in its 167-year history, Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Ville Platte now has a permanent sign on the church grounds. Resting on top of the sign is a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
