VP 12s win district in Mamou

The Dixie Youth Ville Platte Majors All Stars won the district title in Mamou this weekend and will now host the regional tournament at the Ville Platte/Evangeline Parish Recreational Complex.

Local team wins World Series bracket

A local 10U baseball team, DYNASTY, comprised of players from Oakdale, Ville Platte, and Mamou competed in the Perfect Game World Series in Foley, Ala, and won their bracket.

Long-time courthouse employees retire

Cathy McDaniel and Tina Fontenot, long-time employees with the Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court office, celebrated their retirement with a party on Wednesday, June 30. McDaniel had been employed with the office off and on for 47 years, while Fontenot worked in the office for 38 years.

PP 6U All Stars compete in district

The Dixie Youth 6U T-Ball All Stars from Pine Prairie saw their season come to an end after competing in the district tournament that was held in Leesville this past weekend.

VP 7U All Stars win district

The Dixie Youth 7U Coach Pitch All Stars from Ville Platte ran through this past weekend’s tournament undefeated in Leesville and claimed the District 7 championship. The team now readies to compete in the state tournament in Ruston.

Volunteer photographer Mable Foreman is named Ville Platte Rotarian of the Year

On the night when the Rotary Club of Ville Platte installed its officers for the upcoming year, the club presented Mable Foreman with the award for Rotarian of the Year on Tuesday, June 22. “I say a lot of times the pictures that I take are evidence, which it is,” she said.
