Fire Department accepts donation

Cabot Corporation Ville Platte Plant presented the Ville Platte Volunteer Fire Department with a Cabot Foundation check for $25,000. This grant will allow the VPVFD to purchase three full sets of firefighter PPE, two LifePak 500 AEDs, communication equipment, and to continue the Community Risk Reduction program within the community. “Charitable contributions such as the generous Cabot grant are vital to meet our needs in replacing aging equipment and community risk reduction (fire prevention) materials outside of budgeted resources,” said Chief Chris Soileau of the Ville Platte and Evangeline Parish Fire District 2 departments. “Items such as PPE firefighting gear, specialized firefighting or rescue tools, emergency medical equipment, or any number of tools used in loss prevention of property or training can be easily out of reach without extraordinary resources such as these. Cabot has been a generous industrial partner to our operations and we are thankful that they continue to do so.” Pictured from left to right: Chris Soileau, Fire Chief; Jason Fontenot, Cabot; Rhonda Deshotels, Cabot; Scott Dupre, Captain; Fabian Poullard, Asst Fire Chief; Kyle Dupre, Training Officer; In the back Trojan Harrison, FF/OP.
