EPSO Arrests

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail. Arrested were the following persons: • Galvis Ardoin Jr., 45, Baker, was arrested on September 1, 2021, by the State Police for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and careless operation. Ardoin Jr.

The City of Ville Platte will hold a Hurricane Ida supply drive for neighbors in need.

COVID continues to impact parish

As the month of August drew to a close, the State of Louisiana reported a total of 679,796 cases of COVID-19 along with 12,359 deaths and 479 patients on ventilators. Due to Hurricane Ida, however, the Louisiana Department of Health paused reporting on Tuesday, August 31.

Jobless, workforce numbers improve

Tri-Parish unemployment rates were down and the workforce was up in July compared to a year ago, according to statistics released Friday by the Louisiana Workforce Commission. The workforce for St. Landry, Acadia and Evangeline parishes totaled 67,990 in July, up 2,940 or 4.5% from July 2020.

MAMOU – Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Saturday, August 28, 2021, for James Carl Fusilier, 87, who passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021. Deacon Ben Soileau conducted the funeral services. Burial took place at New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou today, September 2, 2021, for Gloria Gail Orr, 76, who passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021. Reverend Caleb Semien will be conducting the services. Burial will take place in New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

EPSO teams up with Louisiana Highway Safety Commission

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department, along with other law enforcement agencies, will be working this upcoming “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign to combat impaired driving.
