EPSB reviews COVID numbers on campus

Since the governor’s mask mandate ended and the wearing of face coverings on school campuses became optional, the number of COVID cases in Evangeline Parish schools are down, according to data presented to the Evangeline Parish School Board during its meeting held Wednesday, November 17.

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the following recent bookings into the parish jail.

Lady Bearcats hold groundbreaking ceremony for softball field

The new Basile High Lady Bearcat softball team held groundbreaking ceremonies for a girls’ softball field complex on Tuesday, November 9, at property located directly behind W.W. Stewart Elementary School.

Mamou tax renewal, amendments fail

Voters in the Town of Mamou rejected a 12.45 mill renewal when they cast their votes in the election held Saturday, November 13. Seventy-one voters (51%) chose not to renew the proposition, while 68 voters (49%) chose in the affirmative.

MAMOU - Funeral services were held at an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Monday, November 15, 2021, for George Oliver Ardoin who passed away on October 30, 2021. Father Kevin Bordelon was celebrant of the Mass and conducted the funeral services.

Criminal patrol continues arrests

The Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department's Narcotics Unit, on November 4, observed a male subject walking around the parking lot of Dirt Cheap in Ville Platte. When agents made contact with him, he became very nervous and jittery.
