I have an appreciation for kickers. I guess it’s because Sacred Heart never really had one. The last good kicker the Trojans had was my freshman year in 1996 when they had David Troya, an exchange student from Ecuador who played soccer.

By: TONY MARKS Editor Now that the millage rededication propositions for the Evangeline Parish Library and the Evangeline Parish Health Unit are on the March ballot, the wheel is in motion to finance bonds for the construction of a new parish jail that would cost $22.4 million.

Turkey Creek receives audit report, donated police weapon

Turkey Creek Police Chief reported his department received a donated less than non-lethal pepper ball T-4 A-R style rifle from Phoenix Security. Also during the council meeting held Tuesday, November 16, the council heard from Casey Ardoin regarding the village’s audit report.
TEACHERS OF THE YEAR ATTEND TRAINING - On Tuesday, November 9, the Evangeline Parish School Board hosted a workshop for its teachers of the year. The training, led by EPSB Supervisor and District Teacher of the Year Coordinator Grace Sibley, was held to help prepare the teachers as they go on to compete for district and state elementary, junior high and high school teacher of the year. Sibley and the teachers are shown with Superintendent Darwan Lazard, left, and Assistant Superintendent Mike Lombas, right.
