The Board of Control and staff wish our patrons around the parish a healthy and bountiful Thanksgiving holiday! The main library and all branches will be closed on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26. The main library will also be closed on Saturday, November 27.
Notice to the public: The action taken by the Evangeline Parish Library Board of Control at its special meeting on November 15 in reply to an appeal from the Evangeline Parish Police Jury for assistance in acquiring a new jail resulted in the following: The Library Board in regard to Police Jury Proposition No. 1, Library Tax Millage Rededication Proposition, hereby takes no opinion on the merits of or necessity for this proposition but does hereby vote to approve the placing of this proposition before the voters of Evangeline Parish for their decision.
Thank you to the anonymous donors for their recent huge donation of dog food and blankets for the dogs at the Ville Platte City Pound. Donations are much needed and appreciated. Also, another "shout of thanks” goes out to Melissa Gibson, animal lover extraordinaire, for the part she plays and who makes this cause so worthwhile!
The Basile branch library is offering a French Table every other Tuesday at 9 a.m. The next one is November 23. The Mamou branch offers Coffee and Conversation at 8 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays. The Pine Prairie branch Coffee Club can now meet every morning, and on Wednesdays at 9 a.m., they can join in on a bingo game too. And, do ask about their Puzzle Club when you visit! The main library in Ville Platte posts a new “Facebook Virtual Storytime" for kids every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 8 p.m. Please check it out!
The Thanksgiving Coloring Contest is coming to a close. Remember to turn your art work in by Tuesday, November 23, for the judging and cool prizes!!
