Youths named champions at 87th LSU AgCenter Livestock Show

Deputies respond to threat at courthouse, drug offenses

On the 24 th of February 2022 the Evangeline Parish Sheriff Department received a call, that there was an individual coming to the courthouse with a gun. Narcotics agents and Agents with the department of Probation and Parole secured the courthouse.

Work is set to begin at Bayou Chicot Elementary

After receiving funding from the state for the construction of a new multipurpose building at Bayou Chicot Elementary, work is set to begin on the project at the middle of this month. The $1 million in funding comes from money allotted in the state’s budget.

PINE PRAIRIE – Funeral services will be held for Curtis Taffi at 11 a.m. today, March 3, 2022, at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Ville Platte. Curtis Taffi, 62, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Pastor Kevin West will conduct funeral services.

Rollins is sentenced

On Friday, February 25, Nicholas Rollins pled guilty to one count of aggravated assault with a firearm in the matter of State of LA v. Nicholas Rollins. He was sentenced to nine years at hard labor.
